THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN : THE BEST OF THE WORST
1990 (re-issue : 1998)
tagesanzeiger.ch meinte in 1999:
Fay Lovsky ] zur Supergruppe The Magnificent Seven zusammen. (bod.) "

This is a dangerous CD. It is too good.
There simply isn't anything I can think of to play next that would sound right. That's it. Shut down the CD pressing plants, nothing more that's worthwhile can be produced.
The Magnificent Seven sound like many more - a veritable orchestra, and include the incomparable Fay Lovsky. More importantly, this album sounds like these talented musicians were having a ton of fun performing these tunes.
The tunes? Largely TV and movie music , including a "Trust in Me" (from Walt Disney's Jungle Book) that will give you shivers, an "Avengers Theme" that is a better cover than Laurie Johnson himself once gave us, and an a cappella "Second Star to the Right" that would do Manhattan Transfer proud (that's high praise coming from me.)
And how could anyone not love "Japanese Rhumba" ("In case YOU know what we're singing here, please contact our management, because WE haven't got a clue."), or "High Noon" a la Bolero? This album is a LOT of fun, and will likely influence every mix tape I make from this point forward. "
