"Zany? Spontaneous? Slapstick? No single word could even begin to explain the style and charisma of the Marx Brothers. Their act was so unique that Jack Benny was to remark, "...nobody could follow the Marx Brothers. It was impossible! When they got through with their act, that crazy act, no comedian could follow them..."
This once rather unlikely comedy team rose to fame and captured the hearts of millions of moviegoers and radio listeners with the zany antics which were an inseparable part of their lives on and off the air. Groucho (with his sharp-tongued style of humor), Chico (with his impersonations and rapid-fire double talk), and Harpo (with his hilarious musical "un-ability" and pantomimes) combined contradictions, slapstick, and spontaneity into a one-of-a-kind act the likes of which has never been seen since!
This 4-record set contains recordings of original Marx Brothers' radio broadcasts which are being released for the first time. Featured with them on this historic collection are other great stars of Radio and Hollywood."

OskarMaria lebt und arbeitet in Frankfurt - hier mit Sohnemann. Wenn freie Zeit fürs Internet bleibt, dann gibt es hier neue Beiträge. Lieblingszitat: "Von den Dreien, Staat, Regierung und Ich - bin ich der stärkste. Das merkt euch!" (Ret Marut aka B. Traven im Ziegelbrenner)
Nachtrag: OskarMaria das ist eine kleine Verbeugung vor dem beinahe vergessenen Schriftsteller Oskar Maria Graf. In Zeiten der Bücherverbrennungen wurden seine Werke von den Nazis verschont, ja sogar teilweise empfohlen. "Verbrennt mich!" schrieb er 1933 in der Wiener Arbeiterzeitung, "nach meinem ganzen Leben und nach meinem ganzen Schreiben habe ich das Recht, zu verlangen, dass meine Bücher der reinen Flamme des Scheiterhaufens überantwortet werden und nicht in die blutigen Hände und die verdorbenen Hirne der braunen Mordbanden gelangen!" Schließlich floh er in die USA - dort lebte er in bescheidenen Verhältnissen. Deutschland wollte den unbequemen Mann nach dem Krieg nicht wieder haben. Er starb 1967 in New York.
